Karelia (2025)

Combat Soviet soldiers as the world's deadliest sniper , Simo Häyhä. Set in the harsh Finnish winters on the Karelian peninsula. You have one objective , survive and defeat as many invading Soviets as possible. Defend your life and homeland in Karelia.

 

How to play:  

Use WASD keys to guide Simo around the screen and click on enemies to fire your in game M/28-30 rifle.

Strong historical context was present in the creation of our game. Creating a game set in a place and time that the majority of the gamemakers involved know little to nothing about poses an interesting opportunity to create a game based majorly in fact and without bias and avoiding stereotypes of the region. By using first hand sources and peer-reviewed published books and articles, we can find true accounts of the history we are recreating. The books A Frozen Hell : the Russo - Finnish war of 1939 -1940 by William R Trotter and A History of Finland by John H. Wourinen gave as a crucial foundation of the motives and the progression of the The Winter War , allowing us to build a world in our game resembling the real life terrain and set up of warfare in the region.
